 Government officials.

Students will take guided notes, and will analyze artwork depicting government officials.

Students will then portray government officials in short skits.

 

 Formative: Student skits will be assessed using a simple rubric based off of student participation.

Priests

Students will see firsthand the embalming process.

Students will take a few guided notes.

Students will create a class sarcophagus for their chicken, using research from text and internet about different designs and the purposes of the sarcophagus.

 

 Formative: Discussion about the embalming process and the Egyptians beliefs on death.

Thursday

 Scribes

Students will create their own papyrus paper and will discuss the importance of scribes.

Discussion about why Egyptians used the papyrus plant to create their paper.

Friday

Artisans

Students will take guided notes on artisans.  After, they will analyze works of art from Ancient Egypt.

Students will then draw an Egyptian painting on the papyrus they created Thursday.

 

 Formative:

Ticket out the door – List two facts about ancient Egyptian artisans, and one question you have about the topic.
